No Ways Tired: Kathlyn Gilliam is the first of a documentary series on little known local activists in the black community. After many years of community involvement, in 1974 Kathlyn Gilliam became the first black woman elected to the Dallas School Board. She accomplished this feat during a time of high racial tension in Dallas with the goal of desegregating the schools and creating equal learning opportunities for minorities 17 years after Brown v. Topeka. Her feat was not an easy one as many before her had tried but were defeated.

This is a story of a determined woman who, despite the fact her opposition was always greater than her support, marched on not for herself, but for black youth. You may ask, why is this story important? Well, we all know of Malcolm X, Dr. King and Ms.Rosa Parks but many of us are ignorant of activists who fought in our own backyards. No Ways Tired takes you on an enlightening journey through the life of the first black person and first woman to be elected President of the Dallas School Board and her instrumental role in the hard fought battle of desegregating the Dallas School System.
